Der Beitrag zeigt diagnostische Fallstricke und daraus resultierende Gefahren der Überbehandlung aufn, die sich im Kontext der modernen radikalen Ovarialtumorchirurgie ergeben können und für die der vorliegende Fall bilateraler Fibrothekome mit sklerosierender Peritonitis ein lehr- buchmäßiges Beispiel abgibt.

Significance of syndecan-1 expression in ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast.

Fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) supports tumor progression in breast cancer. FGF-2 signaling is modulated by heparan sulfate proteoglycans, such as syndecan-1 (CD138). The exact role of CD138 in ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast (DCIS) is still uncertain. Differential expression depending on grading could suggest a role for syndecan-1 during growth and tumor progression.

Adjacent ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is found in approximately 45% of invasive ductal carcinomas (IDC) of the breast. Pure DCIS overexpresses HER2 in approximately 45%. There is uncertainty whether adjacent DCIS impacts on the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and trastuzumab as well as whether HER2 expression in IDC component or adjacent DCIS changes throughout treatment.
